The Board of Trustees

In Kentucky, fire protection is one of the services provided by independent taxing districts which exist to perform functions that are either not available or beyond the scope of an established government entity. Each type of independent taxing district is governed by a specific Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) which defines its authority, responsibilities, and general rules of operation. The statute governing the Middletown Fire Protection District is KRS 75.010 and was originally adopted in 1944.

A seven member board of trustees governs the Fire District.  Three of these members are appointed by the Louisville Metro Mayor; two are elected from among the District property owners; and two are elected from among the membership of the Fire District.
